Monday Mayhem - 18 July

Welcome to Mo nday Mayh em! The place where nothing matters and we can all have fun on a Monday. Every week is something different. Harriet is our host. Or hostess. Your call. Monday Mayhem: Okay, So We're Back First, let me say I was both surprised and delighted Mayhem's return. Or more succinctly put - maybe I'm amazed. 1. What is the stupidest thing you heard this weekend? What isn't? I hear so many stupid things it's tough to keep track. Oh, wait, I thought of one: a woman tried to run over another woman in Oklahoma, because she thought that person was Casey Anthony, so she tried to kill her. How charming. 2. Who should know that it is time to move on...walk away....? I don't know, walk away form what? My 21 year marriage? No. We have invested the time and work that a long-term relationship takes. Not walking away from that! 3. What's your local forecast for the week? Hot, humid. 91 degrees today, 97 tomorrow, 99 on Thursday... high humidity....

Fighting with Aetna Again...

I like to call it "better living through modern chemistry". As long as I can laugh at it, it seems more livable. But is it? Every couple of months I have to struggle with the online pharmacy and getting my medications. It seems to be torture - for me, not for them - and I have to fight with them constantly. Then I need to fill stuff through the regular pharmacy and that is a fight, too. Groan. I can't seem to make them understand how difficult this is and get it all straightened out. That the one medication is the difference between functioning and being bed-ridden. This need not be so bloody hard. You'd think I'd get used to this but really, there is no dealing with them - they try to be pleasant and I start out well enough but after a few minutes I'm ready to kill them. And the stuff they DO refill, they refill incorrectly. A ten day supply of something? I think not - why would I ask for that through the online system? That would be pointless. They said I...

The Queen's Meme - 7 Royal Questions on Tuesday

Image
Welcome to The Queen's Meme 7 Royal Questions on Tuesday (I'm prolific today. There are 9 questions.) It's time for your annual check up! I always say "knowledge is power" when entering the stressful confines of a doctor's office. I take a pen and paper, armed with questions and a medical encyclopedia at my disposal. My doctor is not amused. Let's see how well you do on the medical exam I have prepared for you. The Crazy Medical Meme 1. The smallest bone in the human body is about the size of a grain of rice. What is it? I know it is not the zyphoid process; I'm guessing it is in the ear canal. I don't know the name of it. Let's see if I'm wrong... I'm right! It is called the stirrup. 2. How fast is a sneeze? Good question, I think it is something like 60mph. Wikipedia says... it didn't - but apparently I'm wrong - it is 100mph. Damn! 3. What percentage of the human body is water? Too easy - 97%. I'm not even going ...

Sunday Stealing - 17 July

Image
Welcome back to Sunday Stealing which originated on WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser. Here we will steal all types of memes from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent memes. You may have heard of the expression, “honor amongst thieves”. In that age-old tradition, we also have our rules. First, we always credit the blog that we stole it from and we will “fess up” to the blog owner where we stole the meme. We also provide a link to the victim's post. (It's our way of saying "Thanks!") We do sometimes edit the original meme, usually to make it more relevant to our global players, to challenge our players, sometimes to select that meme's best questions, or simply to make it less repetitive from either this new meme or recently asked questions from a prior featured meme. Let's go!!! Today we ripped off a blogger named Myne Whitman from the blog of Myne Whitman ...

Cinn's Saturday 5

[01] What is your reaction to the results of the Casey Anthony trial? I'm tired of it. The fact is we will never know what happened. So I feel the jury did the best they could with what they had. That is it. [02] Do you think the President and congress will be able to resolve the current debt issues? No, not unless some magic force gives him the answer. I do feel overpopulation and illegal immigrants are not helping the issues. [03] What do you think of teaching " gay history " in public schools? Absolutely! Please allow that. I feel teaching tolerance and history - accurate history - is very important. [04] Do you think a presidential candidate's religious affiliation should affect his/her ability to be a bi-partisan president? Wow. Sure. Do any of them really have it, though? [05] Will there be an NFL season this fall? The bigger question is do I care if there will be an NFL season? I suspect you can guess my answer...!

Q1 - Life : Talking about yours for a moment ( i.e., the fact that you're among the living )... Do you think of life as a right or privilege , and how does your answer impact the way you live your life? It is a privilege . I have a genetic condition, so I consider each day above ground a good one. I enjoy every day, even the ones when I feel terrible, and do my best to see the magic in them. Q2 - Unexplained : Incidents of mass animal deaths have been reported in the U.S. and around the world in the past two months. Thousands of dead birds fell from the sky in Arkansas on New Year's Eve, following a massive fish kill just 100 miles away days earlier. In the week following, other mass bird deaths were reported in nearby Louisiana and Kentucky. Birds were also reported to fall dead from the sky in Italy and Sweden, and more recently similar incidents have been reported in California and Alabama. Mass fish kills have also been reported in Chicago, Maryland, Brazil and...
