Happy September!
September Changes
September is like no other
September is like no other
It's days change color and weather
No other month can say quite the same
For every day, I can feel the change
It's cool breezes start out warm,
Changing to cold throughout every storm
The leaves change and fall
As the Summer leaves and Autumn kisses us all
September maidens feel the change
Like the blue of the sky
Yet the color so deep
Unbelievable beauty
Maidens fall throughout and watch
Each raindropp changing through colors so fast
Yet one streak remains the same
Of that wonderful sapphire rain.
September, unlike any other
Holds you tight, in any weather.
Changes come, no matter where you go
North and you'll get stormy snow
South and feel the heat of summer coming
September does this, no matter what.
Change lives within, Nothing to stop
September is beautiful
And awesome all the same
It's hope for the future and the change
Comes swiftly as we sweep away
The Summer ends and the Autumn begins
Change is all around
With one maiden leaving
And yet, another comes
Born into the world
Of wonderful September
The sapphire skies live on
Through out this wonderful September

It is time for me to write. It is also time for me to wax poetic and anything I can think about the joy and beauty that is beginning anew on this day, Monday, 1 September 2008.
If you want to see me smiling and happy - even more so than usual - mention autumn! I do realise that astronomically speaking, I'm 21 days away from autumn's equinox. Weather and seasonal-wise I'm probably closer to 40 days from the new season. But I don't care. On 1 September I'm ready for the autumn in all its colourful and crisp splendor!
I can already the autumn leaves coming, in little splotches in younger maples. Unlike our two older maples in the front yard, the maples lining the road on Volunteers Park are youthful and endowded with much lighter green summer leaves. However, it is only the 1st and there are bits of yellow and red leaves showing up at the top of a couple of those younger maples.
That is just the beginning...
After tomorrow, September will also bring the yellow colours of many, many school busses. Fortuitously I am up too early in the morning to run into these ocher-coloured beasts of puerile burden; however, I see them in their ubiquitous fashion throughout my jouney home from work in the afternoon. I find them all over. I don't miss them in the summer months, but by the same token, I'm glad that the age 5 - 18 populace is back to the hallowed halls of the local institutions loosely refered to as "Schools".
The weather here this year has been very much as autumn is, but in August, a strange thing indeed. I wonder about this and if this means the autumn weather will be hot and humid or just a continuation of what we've been having. A bit more rain might be nice. However, that is more a wish for the Grounds department than for my personal self.
How I love the sounds of the cicadas that begin in the late afternoon and continue through the temperate nights. I love it. I could listen to the orchestra of the late summer insects.
Sigh. The loveliness of autumn!
