A Concert Tonight!

The first concert was cancelled prematurely, due to inclement weather that did not happen (amusingly enough, but to my intense disappointment, as that night - 19 July - was Swing/Big Band music!). However, tonight's concert was on, although it was definitely not the best effort!

Parsippany's sound guys did not show, so even though we got there shortly before 1900, the concert was nowhere near starting. A truck finally showed up at 1915 with just one guy and many boxes. The OEM-RACES guys went over to help him unload but even with that help it took over an hour to set up the sound. By the time it began it was past 2000.

The band was Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge, who played a lot of late 50s/early 60s music. I was not impressed; they could not seem to keep the beat correctly, the lead singer (I assume that this was Johnny) forgot the words to "Runaround Sue", one of my most favourite songs, which really underwhelmed me. He just trailed off and the line was lost. Unbelievable! I know the words to that song! (Of course, it is a great song!)

Car 65 was there with Betsy, so I did go into their rig to hang out with them. Nan was there and the rest of the group. We had a lot of fun chatting and trading EMS war stories. It was a great night that way!
