Tiger Woods... and Why Do We Care?

Let's be honest. This is not about Tiger. Next week it will be someone else who is rich, famous or both. (The common folk do this stuff, too, but being common, we are completely un-newsworthy!) So why do we care? Does anyone care?

Here are several reasons not to care:

1. Statistically speaking this happens all the time
2. Elin won't go broke anytime soon, pre-nup or no
3. Tiger had a history of this (who is the stupid one here?)
4. Famous/wealthy people get propositioned all the time - eventually the right person will ask!
5. People get bored and when you can have your pick...
6. Wasn't there some teeny little voice in the back of Elin's mind when they were getting married, saying, "Maybe this is not the best idea? Maybe he is too famous?"

That was right off the top. If I mull it over I can come up with more. You see my point, though. And take your pick of the famous people getting/have gotten divorced.

Next week, I'll post about famous people who should be jailed for the names they gave their children... another sign that you have too much money/fame!

You are right, it does happen all the time. But of course add many million dollars to the mix and the temptations on both side probably increase.
I'm sure Elin had her uncertainties but with someone in the spotlight like that and worth that much money I guess you weigh the different options and hope for the best. If they manage to work it out, hey, great, but if not... enough coverage already. It's done and it's nothing new.

Ooh, I'm sure the post about names will be fun. Dweezil and Moon Unit come to mind. Oh boy!

I thought the same, Elin should have suspected Something...I mean, duh, all that time in Las Vegas and no tournament....The Only thing I care about is how bottom line dollars, be it marketing or whatever, affect our youth...and it's cyclical...and, yes, it's a Big Name draw that pulls in the headline loot...ahhhhh! Look forward to your name posting...but will be out of town/computer until the 28th...will ck archives...Merry Christmas!

Why do we care about Tiger Woods. He's a low life who had the world in his hands and blew it. The man had a super model for a wife and a child but couldn't control his wandering eye. As far as I'm concerned he blew any chance he had at being any kind of roll model or sports hero. Another typical example of someone who had anything money could buy but it didn't satisfy him. Wish somebody who really deserved it would have won.

An Interesting Wife Swap...

I'm catching up on our Wife Swap recordings. I'm watching the epiode Burroughs/Padovan-Hickman one that aired on 17 April 2009. The one I watched just before was really quite satisfying - the families both learned a lot and seemed to really take it to heart. This one, however, is back to the familiar mold of putting families that are so totally diametrically opposite families together that they almost can't get along. This is interesting, though, because the Padovan-Hickmans have electricity but don't use it, don't flush often, go for a week without showering and then the whole family uses the same bathwater... I can see where that would be hard, especially for me in that I have very oily skin and hair and would look rather wretched after the next day. But the family themselves are very likable and fun, the father looks more like a kindly grandfather, but really is quite intelligent and pleasant. I would have trouble with the clean thing and I'd miss my iPod
