Fairy Song

In the days of old, when knights were bold, there lived a fearsome dragon,
And the king, he was in great despair, for his country's spirits laggin'.
Until there came a handsome knight, he was dashing, young and charming,
And he slew the dragon with his sword with a smile that was so disarming.
With hey and a ho and a hey nonny no, and a smile that was so disarming.

Said the king, "I wish to know your name."
Said the knight, "Sir, do not bother.
"Yea, verily, one knight," said he, "is the same as any other."
The king then said, "In my daughter's bed tonight you'll take your leisure.
And you'll be rewarded for your deed with a night of undaunted pleasure."
With a hey and a ho and a hey nonny no, with a night of undaunted pleasure.

One daughter, she had a golden hair, was a maiden young and chaste-
And she slept all night in the pale moonlight naked to her waste-
The other daughter was so fair - the fairest in the town-
And she slept all night in the pale moonlight, naked from her small waste down.
With a hey and a ho and a hey nonny no, naked from her small waste down.

Now the knight he stayed for many hours inside the castle walls
But the ending to this story is not what it seems at all-
For in neither bed of either maid was he repaid for his glory...
For he spent all night with the king instead for this is a fairy story!
With a hey and a ho and a hey nonny no, for this is a fairy story-O!
