The Last Posting of August

Maybe the last posting of the social summer...

People seem to think that the summer season ends with the advent of September. It really doesn't, not until circa 24 September, but the way in this area that the seasons are viewed are by other events than astronomy. The month of September is viewed as autumn, even though more than half of that month is summer astronomically speaking. But the kids return to school, the beaches are no longer open to people with money fees and life guards, and the vacation season has ended. Summer is over.

Tomorrow is 1 September and I will be in the Boonton Labor Day Parade in the line of march for judging. I need to be in my dress whites and have my cert cards with me. I have never been in the line of march of a judging parade. This will be something new for me. I'm nervous and excited. However, it will also be 1 September, the six-year anniversary of my car accident. I like the idea of replacing my accident with being in judged in a parade with the ambulance.

The time goes by so fast. It is amazing.

Thanks for reading my blog. I don't post as often as I could. I was a little supprised to read a comment on a post from April.

My company does tend to put the miles on the units in a hurry. I live in central Nebraska, away from major urban centers with large hospitals. Although our local hospital is a regional hospital with a lot of capabilities, the serious and strange patients usually get transported to Linoln, Omaha, or Denver. Thats where I come in.

I am a transport medic. Its a world apart from the 911 and Volunteer EMS systems. I often spend 3 or 4 hours with very critical patients. Many of these patients would be flown out, but there is also a lack of fixed and roto medical transport companies around here. The nearest copter is 100 miles away and often unavailable.

I love being transport medic, but I also have a great deal of respect for the 911 and Volunteer EMSers out there. Take care out there.

The Longairc-Green Family

This is a family that was on Nanny 911 , the precursor to Supernanny , which airs on Wednesday nights. While Supernanny is a better production and leaves out some of the dopey American-isms of stupidity (such as the opening scene with a much older nanny head whose television showing the family and their issues turns around into a painting on the wall), this show has its value. These families are clueless or don't bother to try and definitely need help. This family is an exception in that the mother couldn't care less what the monsters do and will do anything to mollify them. The father is more consistent and definitely takes a much more disciplinary stance, but the mother undermines it at every step of the way. The two boys are so unbelievably rude, I'd've killed them where they stood. The little girl only wanted a moment of attention and was not doing anything negative, and the mother was awful to her.
