Saturday Six #373

Friday was National Doughnut Day. I hope you managed to get yours; I’m told that Krispy Kreme and Dunkin’ Donuts were both handing out free doughnuts in honor of the occasion.

So, with such an important national event still fresh on everyone’s mind, I figured this week’s edition of the Saturday Six should focus on doughnuts as well.

Here are this week’s “Saturday Six” questions. 1. Which doughnut shop do you prefer: Dunkin’ Donuts, Krispy Kreme, or a different store? I like both, but Krispy Kreme did not survive in the local area. So Dunkin' Donuts wins.

2. Do you prefer your doughnuts hot, room temperature or cool? Um, I guess room temp. I haven't had them any other temp.

3. Take the quiz: What Donut Are You? Oh, I don't need to answer that, I'm absolutely a Bavarian creme doughnut. But let's see what the quiz thinks...

4. How do you usually spell it: doughnut or donut? Oh, no, no, no - I'm a purist. One does not much the English language. It is doughnut.

5. Do you prefer cake-style or glazed? Oh, I guess glazed. Well, I'm not sure. What's cake-style? I don't get doughnuts enough to know. I never buy them, either.

6. Do you prefer frosted, creme-filled or plain? Ah, this question I can answer: creme-filled with chocolate on top. Vanilla stuff on top would be even better, but I have never seen it...

I can do without doughnuts most of the time. However, if I do get a craving for one, I always prefer the creme-filled variety at one of two somewhat local bakeries. The one place usually has choice of powdered or sugared. Hmm... I think sugared might win out. But either way, they are sliced along the side and filled, err, I mean STUFFED with decadent white cream. Dammit, now I'm thinking about doughnuts. Be right back.... haha

An Interesting Wife Swap...

I'm catching up on our Wife Swap recordings. I'm watching the epiode Burroughs/Padovan-Hickman one that aired on 17 April 2009. The one I watched just before was really quite satisfying - the families both learned a lot and seemed to really take it to heart. This one, however, is back to the familiar mold of putting families that are so totally diametrically opposite families together that they almost can't get along. This is interesting, though, because the Padovan-Hickmans have electricity but don't use it, don't flush often, go for a week without showering and then the whole family uses the same bathwater... I can see where that would be hard, especially for me in that I have very oily skin and hair and would look rather wretched after the next day. But the family themselves are very likable and fun, the father looks more like a kindly grandfather, but really is quite intelligent and pleasant. I would have trouble with the clean thing and I'd miss my iPod
